Scatter some sparklies for the crows
A different type of energy coming off of this one. More clang than hum. Like it has impulse control issues and is trying to force itself to behave. The higher contrast, starker color shifts are responsible for that. Flattens out the space so that the layers crowd right up against the surface.
I don’t start with a preconcieved idea about where a painting is going to end up. I have a rough idea on the base color and a hue/value/acuity trajectory in mind, but that almost always changes. And I have a rubric, obviously, but being surprised in spite of that, in defiance of it even, is sort of the whole point.
