Let some air in

This one is a bit of an outlier and likely a one-off. It takes the chain concept from the previous one, and uncoils it into a loose spiral. Why red? To distinguish it from the background. Too much so in retrospect. Looks like a crayon drawing on a very foggy windowpane looking out on a rainy Constable countryside. What I like is exactly this clumsy waffling between the abstracted and a sort of just out of reach literality.

After this one, I don’t really think of what I’m doing as abstraction. I’m painting actual things. They’re just actual things that don’t exist outside of the paintings, little universes at their very beginnings, arising out of a very simple set of physical laws.
