Protect your sleep.
Going into full PSA mode on this one. There is nothing more important than the consistent habit of a good night’s sleep. I go to bed and get up at the same time seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. I approach sleep the way Frank Auerbach approaches the practice of painting. If something disrupts the cadence I just get right back to it. Healthy sleep is a cornerstone of physical, mental, emotional, and imaginative well being.
Regarding this painting, with the lullaby color scheme and the midstream unjumbling of forms, it strike me as a pretty good visual representation of what happens in the brain during sleep.
